Texas White House Conference on Aging

Every 10 years, the White House seeks feedback from people across the country to help Congress and the President shape policies that will promote the dignity, health, independence, and economic security of older Americans. This is accomplished through the White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) to be held Oct. 23-26, 2005.

While all of the past conferences have had significance, this one occurs as the first wave of the baby boom generation prepares for retirement, creating an important opportunity to creatively assess aging in the United States and to improve the lives of older Americans. Baby boomers include the 78 million people born between 1946 and 1964 who will begin to turn 60 in 2006.

The theme for this conference is "The Booming Dynamics of Aging: From Awareness to Action." The theme highlights the changing face of aging in the United States encouraging people of all ages to participate in developing plans for aging generations now and in the futur
